Everyone at Autism at Kingwood is deeply shocked and appalled to see the racist, violent actions taken by groups across the country over the last week.
At Autism at Kingwood, we are a community who enrich the organisation because of our diversity. Many people were not born in this country and some were welcomed to this country as refugees, fleeing persecution. We are also proud to employ colleagues through sponsorship. We are a better organisation because of our cultural and racial diversity.
No-one should feel unsafe in the place they call home. We will do all that we can to protect the people we support and our staff from racist abuse and violence. Indeed, Autism at Kingwood is a safe space for anyone affected by these hateful events.
We operate in Oxfordshire, Reading and Bucks, and are distressed to hear that far-right action may be planned at Magdalen Road, Oxford this evening, as part of a national protest outside Asylum Support Centres. Please stay away from the area if possible. There may also be protests planned in central Oxford and other towns and cities, on Saturday.
Autism at Kingwood stands in solidarity with those adversely affected by these events.
