Autism at Kingwood attends the Learning Disability and Autism Awards in Birmingham

On Friday the 9th July, Belinda, our Peripatetic Support Manager, and our Transforming Lives Team attended the Learing Disability and Autism Awards in the ICC in Birmingham. Belinda had been shortlisted for The Frontline Leaders Aware and the Transforming Lives had been shortlisted for the Great Autism Practice Award. Whilst they didn’t come home with the awards, we are so proud of them for making it that far!

Sarah Shield, Transforming Lives Lead, and Pride of Reading winner, said of the experience, ‘It was great to see such a variety of people across the sector, celebrating the achievements of everyone and really highlighting the success we have seen, especially during the pandemic. A great time was had by everyone, with fantastic entertainment and although we didn’t win, it was an honour to have been nominated and shortlisted as finalist.’

Kathy, who is supported by the Transforming Lives Team, said, “They didn’t win the prize in Birmingham sadly but we know they are winners and do really well, so that’s important to Sarah Shields, Leanne Evans and Jonathan but we should tell them that we think they are the best so they are not sad. I am going to tell them this because I think they are the best”

Belinda said it was fab to be put forward for an award, and her team had the following to say about working with Belinda:

‘Belinda’s caring manner and how easily she establishes trust and rapport with all individuals is amazing…. Belinda has always had a professional and respectful approach towards the people we support and her staff team.’ Dean

‘The care and thoughtfulness that Belinda has for her team shines through. It is a reflection of the attitude that she has for our clients, only ever wanting the best for them, so that they can be the best version of themselves.’ Owen

‘Belinda took me under her wing totally made me enjoy the job I do with her full support’ Alexandra

We are proud of all our support staff and the dedication that is shown to ensuring the people we support live the lives they choose.
