We are so proud of Jennifer and Adedotun from our North Leigh service, who were nominated by their Service Manager, Ebrima, for the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards Newcomer Award.
On Friday the 19th June, Ebrima, Adedotun and Jennifer went to the International Convention Centre in Birmingham to attend the award ceremony and from the photos it looks like a fabulous time was had by all – including Peter Andre!
To make it through to the shortlist is a great achievement in itself and showcases the amazing work that both Adedotun and Jennifer do for Autism at Kingwood and the people we support. While they didn’t bring home the award, we are so happy that Ebrima was able to show them how much we appreciate them!
Here is a message from the team:
“We had such a wonderful experience, and your support truly stayed with us throughout. One of the highlights was sitting together just before the announcements, taking in the atmosphere and excitement in the room — it was such a special moment, and we felt incredibly proud to be there representing Kingwood. When the Newcomer category was announced, it was a genuinely thrilling experience hearing the nominations read out, and we made sure to capture it as suggested.
It was also such a proud moment seeing our names called and our photos appear on the big screen. Even though we didn’t take home the trophy, we felt incredibly grateful and happy to be recognised — it made the whole experience truly meaningful for us.
A particularly funny and memorable moment was later in the evening when we were all dancing together — especially during the “Merry-Go-Round” music! Everyone was in great spirits, and it turned into such a joyful and lively moment that had us all laughing and fully enjoying ourselves. It really captured the celebration and togetherness of the day.
We took plenty of photos and videos, which we’re very happy to share with everyone at Kingwood. Thank you again for all your support and encouragement — it made the occasion even more enjoyable and memorable for us.”
