This year we were overwhelmed with nominations for our awards, which reflects the compassion and commitment of our staff.
THE WINNERS!
Adele’s support team: Support Manager – Lynne, Dina, Shirley, Nicola, Comfort, Alys, nominated by Adele’s dad Jim:
“I would like to nominate the whole team that supports my daughter, Adele Vincent. They have done an excellent job over the past two years in keeping Adele calm and happy and in giving her a good quality of life.”
Adele’s support team has also been nominated by Lynne, team Support Manager:
“The reason I am nominating this team is they are a great team to manage. I am so grateful to them for all their hard work when we are short staffed and how they all work together. When I am off or when I wasn’t around as much, due to other commitments in the organisation they didn’t bother people and used their own initiative and got on with what needed to be done.”
Ed’s support team: Constantine – Area Manager, Ebrima – Support Manager, Luke, Abimbola, Hassan, Anthony, Brian, Peter, nominated by Ed’s mum, Joanne
“Team members work together to communicate and share their understanding, knowledge and experience which is greatly to Ed’s benefit. The team’s commitment and professionalism has resulted in strong improvements in the quality of Ed’s support over the last eight months In my view Ed is more settled and feels less anxious because his team are more skilled, confident and well-managed.
ALSO: Hassan, nominated by Caroline, mum to James
“Hassan is very caring and has a lovely relationship with my son. He makes my son’s life more fulfilling with the activities Hassan takes him to. Hassan also regularly sends me photos and videos of my son.”
THREE NOMINATIONS FOR BAYOMI!
Support Manager Bayomi, nominated by: Ebrima
“Bayomi had surgery last year and was off sick, yet still, his heart was with the people we support and their well-being, families, and the services. He was calling at least once a week to check on them and if there was anything he can do to help.”
Enock “Because of his professionalism”
James, brother to someone we support. “He’s such a positive, caring and patient human being. Everyone needs a Bayomi in their lives!”
Support Worker Tammy, nominated by Adrian & Tracey Palfreyman
“We feel so blessed to have Tammy as one of Arthur’s Kingwood carers. Tammy makes what can be a very difficult job … easy. She is always willing to “jump in” at the last minute when needed often at short notice. Tammy is wonderfully patient when supporting Arthur and the help and the initiatives she takes since joining “Team Arthur” have enriched his life so much. Tammy is constantly looking out for Arthur , thinking of new ideas of a recreational and motivational nature to enhance his experience . She has the kindest heart and has built a wonderful working friendship with Arthur. We are delighted to nominate Tammy for the “Above & Beyond” award as we feel it is richly deserved.”
Support Manager Reyes, nominated by Area Manager Carol
“Reyes has worked really hard to pull the Beeching Way team together. She has created positive and meaningful connections with families, partnerships and the team itself.”
A special award for more than 20 years of service to Michelle Thompson
We also have awards to Sarah Shewchuk, Dean Norcutt for over 20 years of service, and to Martin Beek who has worked for Kingwood for over 30 years.
The Chipping Norton support team: James, Tracy, John, Mikki, Nathan, Pauline, nominated by Milca, team Support Manager
“I am nominating the team in Chipping Norton for the work that demonstrates great teamwork – following procedures, following routines of the paws to the book, and for the coordination of daily activity in the service. They have worked together cohesively to provide support, creating a positive working atmosphere, and supporting each other to combine individual strengths to enhance team performance. They have made the manager’s job easy!”
The Westbury Team: Andrea, Christina, Emma, Elvira, nominated by Rebecca, team Support Manager
“I am nominating this team as they have continued with given the best support to our individual, even though it has been a struggle with the lack of staff and the fact that the service is out in the sticks with no contact of any other service or kingwood staff until recently. Over the last two years, the team has successfully helped the person we support to be in the community. They have done this with minimal higher management support and have worked as a team. There have been lots of staff changes, which has only strengthened the team. They deserve to be recognised for all their hard work by the whole of Kingwood and it would give them a massive sense of achievement.”
Manager Rebecca also received a nomination from Helen Thomas, Area Manager
“With lots of hard work, Becky and her team have turned the Westbury Service into a service to be proud of.”
Owen, nominated by Gardening Coordinator Renee
“I have been working with Owen at the allotment for more than a year now. In all this time he has been a very kind and supportive staff member and support worker. He is always happy to help with anything that is needed, contributes with ideas and advice and is just fun to work with. He really respects the people he supports, and he is very responsive towards their individual needs. When people supported work with him, it looks to me that they are relaxed and that they feel that this is a person they can trust. Owen has a very special relationship with Ben and they really look like friends when they are working together.”
Ed, nominated by colleague Jayshree
“Even though he works in Finance, he is always helping s staff in other departments to sort their problems. Edward never says ‘no’ to anyone and always goes out of his way to help everyone.”
Steve Painting, nominated by Tammy
“Steve is Amazing! I feel he goes above and beyond for all his work colleagues at kingwood, he’s always there if you need to ask questions and need any help and support, nothing is too much trouble for Steve, and he works around the clock to support all kingwood supported people that he can! I just feel that Steve needs a big Thank You. x”
The Saxons Way Team: Katie, Ian, Sarah, Abigail, nominated by Rose Pinnington
“The Saxons Way team have worked tirelessly during the challenges of the last few years. Katie Parsley deserves a special mention, taking over from a previous care worker who had left suddenly, and doing a great job in restoring some stability to my son’s home life.
Support Worker Rachel, nominated by Alison and Steve Steare
“Rachel has been simply amazing during the past difficult eighteen months for our family. She has provided constant high-quality support to our daughter both in developing her confidence and encouraging new opportunities. She has worked hard to support a vegetable gardening project which has been a great success. Rachel has a complete understanding of the issues our daughter faces and she has provided invaluable emotional support during a bereavement. We could not have managed without her during that time.”
Laura Steare, nominated by Philippa
“Laura has been so helpful in fundraising and communications. She has written two pieces for our newsletter and social media. Laura has also supported a recent fundraising event, which will raise a significant amount of money for Kingwood.”
The Recruitment and Training team: Julie, Loren. Denitsa Todorova, Oana, nominated by Anne, Head of HR.
“This team has worked extremely hard recruiting across all of our services and especially finding the large number of sponsored staff we need, getting them safely recruited and then inducted and trained to go to work in our services.”
Denitsa was also nominated by Vicky Shaw
“Denitsa has done an incredible job with helping Autism at Kingwood to grow. Very often, as she’s about to leave the office to go on lunch, a new starter will turn up so she will sacrifice her lunch break to support them with what they need. She has really gone above and beyond to help the new starters and has put an incredible amount of effort into making sure their transition goes smoothly.”
