Please support the Real Living Wages for social care workers
The pandemic revealed just how much we rely on our 1.52m social care workers and the risks that they take to do their job. But care workers aren’t given the pay they deserve, despite the highly skilled and compassionate job they do for people they support and to society. Few front line care workers get above the national living wage.
So today I am writing to you to ask you to support social care workers during the #BetterPay4SocialCare Week of Action from Monday September 4th-10th. Please would you share this petition on your social media platforms and emails https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/betterpay4socialcare and use the #BetterPay4SocialCare hashtag
The petition calls on Government to increase funding to local authorities to pass on to care providers so they pay pay care workers a minimum of the Real Living Wage – that’s £9.50 per hour (£10.85 in London).
