Autism at Kingwood welcomes new Gardening Coordinator
We are really pleased to welcome Caroline Powell to the Autism at Kingwood team. Caroline joined us in early July as our Gardening Coordinator, working at our Watermans allotment in Henley-on-Thames. Caroline will be helping people we support to enjoy gardening, who will be able to experience the physical, social and therapeutic benefits of being involved in nature through this horticultural project. There will be group sessions where people we support can work in small teams tending the communal areas of the plot, as well as more targeted individual sessions for people we support who require a more bespoke experience.
Caroline is an occupational therapist with experience and a passion for working with autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Caroline plans to be working at the site on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 1000 and 1400. There will also be a regular picnic lunch on Wednesday’s, between 1200 and 1300 (starting on Wednesday 05/08/2020) where you are welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy it in our lovely surroundings.
Whilst Caroline will to continue to work with people who already enjoy our gardening groups, she is also keen to encourage more people we support to come and experience this lovely natural setting for themselves. Please contact Caroline by email on email@example.com or telephone on 07500 766 094 if you would like any further information or to arrange an informal visit.
