Autism at Kingwood celebrates acts of kindness ahead of World Mental Health Week
Next week the focus for Mental Health Awareness Week 18-24 May 2020 is on kindness.
Kindness is a core value for Autism at Kingwood that underpins all that we do and is intertwined into our everyday activity.
In November 2019, Autism at Kingwood launched its own Kindness campaign to coincide with World Kindness Day, reinforcing the importance of kindness and the impact that small acts of kindness can have.
We made a series of short videos, from people we support, staff and others who talk about what each of our core values mean to them, which can be found at: www.kingwood.org.uk/about-kingwood/kindness-at-kingwood
The campaign has been nominated for the prestigious Inspiration Award by the Oxford Association of Care Providers.
The campaign also invited staff to sign up to our Kindness Commitment and join us in celebrating the importance of kindness; the invitation to be part of this kindness movement was extended to all organisations within the care industry.
‘The power of the Kindness Commitment is within its simplicity. Being kind is a choice we can all make and we have seen many examples of kindness during this unprecedented time; with shopping being delivered by neighbours to our vulnerable clients, PPE being created by local organisations to help protect our frontline workers, as well as our own staff going the extra mile to ensure the people we support are safe, well and happy during this time of uncertainty. It has been truly heart-warming to see a value that is so key to Autism at Kingwood being embraced nationwide.’ Kate Allen, CEO
