How we work with you

Whenever there’s an opportunity to work with a new client, the first thing we do is establish that Kingwood is the right kind of service provider to meet that individual’s needs. Having established this is the case, we undertake an internal assessment to determine whether we have the right resources and skills to provide the appropriate support to the individual and that funding is available for the services we can provide. This is also an opportunity for the person and their family to investigate whether they are happy with the approach to support that Kingwood uses.

The above is carried out working with the individual, their family, care manager and other professionals whose advice and knowledge of the individual will be valuable in helping to decide the way forward. We should then be in a position to establish the level of support needed and ascertain what the expected cost for providing this service will be. The commissioning manager and/or the family can then take a firm decision as to whether Kingwood is their chosen support provider. A support service agreement will then be drawn-up between the individual/family, the local funding authority and Kingwood, enabling the support service to start.

Full details of our service contract can be viewed here.

With the contract in place we can now proceed to develop a personal support plan. Every person Kingwood supports has a personal support plan, which is developed jointly with the person concerned. Each plan contains all the essential information that staff need to provide quality support in the way an individual wants and needs. Personal support plans are reviewed on a regular basis and up-dated in line with individual wishes and progress.

In order to ensure our services continue to be delivered to high standards and are consistent, we have a comprehensive range of policies and processes in place across the organisation. Wherever possible policies and procedures are developed in conjunction with representatives of the people we support, and are designed with accessibility in mind. All services are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure they continue to meet the on-going needs and wishes of the individual concerned. Kingwood is registered with the Care Quality Commission and copies of their reports can be viewed at www.cqc.org.uk.
