• Autism at Kingwood update, 21st August

We are pleased to continue with the announcement that Autism at Kingwood remains to date COVID-19 free, however we will not be complacent as it is acknowledged by all that a second wave could be upon us at any time in the not too distant future.

The learning that we have harnessed from the first wave of COVID-19 has been carefully analysed and stored for our future reference, we know and respect the importance of having robust plans in place to support all our services and staff, and will do all that we can to ensure that our operational delivery standards remain high and consistent in the face of any further adversity.

As with the rest of the country, our employees and the people we support have all been hit with the extra challenge of having their movements restricted in respect of holidays. “Staycation” is the word on many people’s lips when asked “where are you going on holiday?”

Many of our staff have family members overseas, loved ones that they haven’t seen for a long time and, in a number of cases, who they still won’t be able to see for some time to come. Our thoughts and support are with these staff members.

For those that are fortunate enough to travel and are able to visit their families, we are actively encouraging their vigilance and adherence with the travel guidance and self -isolating rulings set out by the Government. This is important to assure their safety and the safety of those around them upon their return from any of the listed countries, as well as preventing the potential liability of a £1000 fine for not following the rules.

Undoubtedly, COVID-19 presents it’s challenges, but as ever we will not be beaten and will continue doing the work that we all really love and enjoy, helping autistic people live good lives.
